KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Life can get pretty hectic sometimes between work, school, and children. Therefore, you might not have that full 30 minutes to get your daily workout in.
But with a little help from The Wellness Center at Dowell Springs; the average busy person can work out through the day even during everyday chores.
Breaking up your workouts through the day with three 10 minute intervals of activity will cover your daily requirement of exercise.
Meet Juli Urevick who is a busy wife and mother of 4 boys who works, cleans, cooks and still finds time to stay in shape.
So you're probably wondering; how does she do it? Well she splits a 30 minute workout through the day with three 10 minute intervals of exercise.
Her day starts early by incorporating daily chores into her first 10 minute set. She explains, "I was changing sheets upstairs and I had arm weights on and by the time I got the whole bed made; my arms were tired."
She even multitasks while waiting for the school bus with her boys.
"My driveway is on a big hill and it's a bear to walk up and down but it's a great work out. I literally walk backwards, walk back down and do it all over again."
Then it's lunch time with the second 10 minute set. She suggests, "Take your lunch break and go for a walk. Put some wrist weights on and go up a hill or up and down some stairs."
Her boys sporting events are just other ways Juli sneaks in the last 10 minute set.
"Our freshman plays football and the bleachers are not crowded during the game. I will walk up and down the bleachers while watching the game. I think everyone in the bleachers thinks I'm a nut but it's my way of getting exercise in on busy days."
It might not be easy at first but small steps can make a big difference.
"It has to be like brushing your teeth. It has to be part of your day and important to you."
