Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Not only is it Read Across America Week but it's Dr. Seuss' birthday and area schools celebrated the day in a special way!

Lotts Leopard Line starts every school morning with lights, camera, action and a rhyme or two today. Red and white could be seen throughout the school as A.L Lotts Elementary celebrated!

The day was full of activities for the children. Principal Susan Turner read one of her favorite Dr. Seuss books to the school over the announcements. While students read and danced their way through "The Foot Book". Also, many children wore their famous Cat in the Hat hats which they cut, colored and pasted together.

Principal Turner tells us "Number one first and foremost we are trying to encourage reading for our students and our staff. This a great week and of course Dr. Seuss was one of the authors that got us hooked when we all were children."

At the end of the day the children enjoyed green eggs and ham; after the famous book!
