KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A father and son were killed in the late night fire at their home on Woody Drive late Sunday night. The Knox Co, Sheriff's Office identified the victims of the deadly fire as 85 year-old John Imgrund and his 44 year-old son David Imgrund.
Autopsies determined the Imgrunds died of smoke inhalation.
Emergency crews had responded to reports of a blaze at the home, 10820 Woody Road, shortly after 10 p.m. A KCSO report indicates David Roberts told officers he called 911 after seeing the house on fire. He said he ran to knock on the door and yelled several times for someone to come out. No one did.
Fire investigators said the fire started in the northeast bedroom, which was used as a den and contained a lot of electronics. They haven't determined what caused the fire fire, but have sent samples to TBI lab for study.
Authorities said there was at least one smoke detector in the home. It was destroyed, though, so investigators did not know if it was working at the time.
One woman was arrested at the scene. According to police, Ashley Carter was part of a large group of onlookers who had gathered near emergency equipment. When an officer told them to move, Carter reportedly stopped and told him to relax. After the officer explained the seriousness of the situation, he says the 36 year-old again stopped and cursed at officers, at which point she was taken into custody.
Carter was charged with Disorderly Conduct for refusing to disperse from the scene of a fire when instructed to do so.
