KARM to 'Stuff the Bus' for area children

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knox Area Rescue Ministries will begin asking the community to Stuff the Bus with school supplies for children in need on Tuesday.

The school supplies needed include:

  • Backpacks
  • Three-ring binders
  • Loose-leaf notebook paper
  • Boxes of Kleenex
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Pocket folders
  • Glue sticks and glue bottles
  • Pencil Boxes
  • Pencils and pens
  • Crayons and markers
  • Rulers

The annual Stuff the Bus event begins Tuesday morning at the Turkey Creek Wal-Mart, 10900 Parkside Drive, and KARM is asking the community to fill a school bus with school supplies through July 27th.

WIVK will also broadcast from the school bus throughout the day on Tuesday.

Between July 31and August 2, KARM will distribute the needed supplies to agencies which serve those in need, such as Knox Co. Schools Teachers Depot, the Water Angels Ministry, Head Start, Project Grad, and Wesley House.

For those who cannot make it to the Turkey Creek Wal-Mart, drop off locations are also set up at these participating Wal-Marts: Walker Springs, 8445 Walbrook Drive; Clinton Highway, 6777 Clinton Hwy.; Chapman Hwy.;7550 Chapman Hwy.; Halls 7340 Norris Freeway; and Knoxville Center 2051 Kinzel Way.
