MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Officials at Middle Tennessee State University are calling their new student union "a trendy place for students and others to gather."

The $65 million, 211,000-square-foot building is scheduled to be ready for the fall semester in late August. It includes a bookstore, theater, game room, ballroom, computer center, offices and restaurant.

Deb Sells, vice president for student affairs and vice provost for enrollment and academic services, said the building is unlike anything that current and recent students have had.

The university had a record enrollment of 26,430 students last fall and bills itself as the largest undergraduate university in the state.
