KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- It was no ordinary Friday at Mount Olive Elementary School because two guest brought a giant check from Lowe's "Toolbox for Education".
It's a program through Lowe's Home Improvement that donates money to schools nationwide. The schools have to use the money for an outside project that benefits the students.
It was the perfect fit for Holly Child, PTA President at Mt. Olive Elementary School who was looking for some grant money to turn an old courtyard into an outdoor classroom.
After filling out the paperwork and applying for the grant money; Holly was notified that the school won $4,000 dollars to help them with their project.
When the outdoor classroom is complete; it will have a reading nook, a weather station and different plants.
They plan to start working on it this Spring and finish by the beginning of school in the Fall.
