New at Knox County Library: eBooks

Knox County, TN (WVLT) -- The Knox County Public Library is offering thousands of new options with their new eBook system.

Mary Pom Claiborne with the Knox County Public Library was on Volunteer TV Early to talk to us about the new possibilities with eBooks.

Library card holders can have access to an entire collection of eBooks being added to the system and their list of options keep growing. You can download these to several eReaders, including your smart phone or computer. Members have access to them for up to three weeks at a time.

The library staff is offering public help sessions for a general introduction to their eBooks. You'll be able to see a demonstration of how to install and register the required software for it as well as how to transfer an eBook to your eReader. People are welcome to bring along their laptops or eReaders to these sessions.

Here are the opportuities you have to learn about the eBook system:
-February 16, 3:00 pm at Cedar Bluff Branch Library
-February 17, 6:30 pm at Powell Branch Library
-February 24, 6:30 pm at Fountain City Branch Library
-February 25, 3:00 pm at Burlington Branch Library
-February 28, 6:30 pm at Lawson McGhee Library

Here's a list of devices compatible with the library's eBook system:
-Barnes & Noble Nook
-Sony Reader
-Mac desktop and laptops OS X v10.4.10 or higher
-Windows 7 or higher
-iPhone/iPad/iPod touch
