Twitter has become one of the world's most popular networking sites. Now that we're at the end of the year, they've released its top trending topics of 2010.
In the top three were the Gulf oil spill, the World Cup, and the movie "Inception." Another big topic included the earthquake in Haiti.
How much of these twitter trend represent what the rest of the world is thinking? The Pew Research Center says 8% of Americans online use twitter, but the number of people on twitter has skyrocketed within the last two years. They went from 3 million users in 2008 to now 175 million users.
At least 65% of those accounts are being created from outside the United States, so Twitter is reflecting a global conversation.
