"The Singing Seniors" bring holiday cheer

KNOXVILLE. Tenn. (WVLT)-- The holiday season is in full swing at the O'Connor Senior Center with the Singing Seniors Christmas Concert.

The building was buzzing with music and seats were hard to come by for the annual Singing Seniors Christmas Concert.

It was a joyful celebration for everyone there including Lucille Shreve who says " I sing because it's a way to show my love for Jesus Christ and especially at Christmas because we get to celebrate the joy of his birth."

She also says that the members of the group have become family over the months of practice.

"I feel so happy and I love it. All the group feels the same way and we can't wait to get together. We love our director Kent and he just inspires us to our very best."

They sing a wide range of Christmas music to entertain the community. Lucille says "We work very hard and the range of music is from simple carols to very elaborate pieces. We can do it all. "

Even though it takes a lot of time and energy to put on the Christmas concert; Lucille says the Singing Seniors have a lot of fun.
