KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- For two weeks, the Knoxville Convention Center will be home a world championship for horseshoes.
The 2012 World Horseshoe Tournament starts Monday, and more than 1,200 people are expected to compete.
The National Horseshoe Pitchers Association (NHPA) puts on the championship each year to determine the world champion in eight divisions: Open Men, Open Women, Senior Men, Senior Women, Elder Men (Short-distance), Junior Boys, Junior Girls and Junior Cadets (9-years-old and younger).
On August 5th, the NHPA will host the NHPA Hall of Fame Banquet at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Downtown Knoxville.
The championship ends on August 11th.
The 2011 championship was held in Monroe, LA.
