Middle Tenn. Woman Pays To Have Curse Lifted

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- A Murfreesboro resident says she paid a woman claiming to be a healer $4,000 to remove a curse.

Murfreesboro police say the so-called healer, going by the name Estella, knocked on the door of Araceli Lopez, and told the 24-year-old woman she was cursed and needed to be cleansed.

Lopez paid the woman $4,000 and also gave her about $2,000 worth of jewelry.

Investigators said Lopez was duped because she does not speak English and the fake healer was able to intimidate her.
