Kenneth John Gipson was arrested for assaulting a community leader with a lawnmower blade.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police have arrested the man suspected of using a lawnmower blade to attack a former Tennessee labor commissioner.
Francis Guess had just pulled into his driveway when an assailant struck him in the head with the blade and robbed him earlier this month. He was hospitalized with head injuries and a broken wrist.
Nashville police say a tip from a citizen helped officers identify Kenneth John Gipson as the likely attacker. The ex-convict has been charged with at least 97 previous offenses. He was arrested Tuesday night and charged with especially aggravated robbery.
He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.
