22 years ago, live on top of the Sunsphere

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- For many, the Sunsphere is a symbol for Knoxville, and 22-years-ago on Memorial Day a band performed live from its heighest point.

Jason & the Scorchers, from Nashville, took to the Sunsphere's roof for the Memorial Day concert in 1990.

The video above from our archives shows the band high above Knoxville for the show.

The band still tours, and recently performed at The Shed in Maryville.
