Chattanooga (AP) -- Chattanooga officials say dogs killed two of the goats being used to keep kudzu in check on Missionary Ridge. The dogs also injured another of the animals.
City animal services captured three dogs and traced a license tag to find their owner.
Dog owner Judith Dewitt says she and her husband will pay the contractor for the dead goats. Dewitt says the dogs got loose while her husband was fixing an electronic fence that had failed.
Another of the goats had earlier died of natural causes.
Chattanooga Public Works Administrator Lee Norris says the experiment went so well that the department is looking for other areas to fence and will deploy the goats again in the spring.
