Hickman, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky prisoner was freed thanks to a phony, error-filled fax.
Officials at the Kentucky Correctional and Psychiatric Center in La Grange released 19-year-old Timothy Rouse after receiving a fax that claimed the Kentucky Supreme Court wanted him released.
The fax contained grammatical errors and was not on letterhead. It also turned out to have been sent from a local grocery store.
Rouse was released on April 6 and officials only realized their mistake a few days ago.
Police arrested Rouse, who is charged with beating an elderly man, at his mother's home on Thursday.
They are investigating who sent the fax.
