KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville-based maker of golf training aids is striving to hit over 20,000 golf balls in 24 hours and break a Guinness World Record Monday.
"All of us are thrillseekers. We love a challenge." said Carl Papa, President of Pin High Pro. "To get into the Guiness Book of World Records is wonderful for all of us, and it's good for the scruffy city to have a world record event down here."
Pin High Pro is leading the team of 12 people as they try to break the world record Monday at the Dead Horse Lake Golf Club in Knoxville.
"A bucket of balls has a about eighty balls and if your setting them yourself and your studying your shot, that might take an hour," Papa said. "This is speed hitting."
He said the goal is to hit 20,000 or more balls into a target area within a 24-hours, a new category created with the folks from Guinness.
The golf balls must go at least 100 yards and stay within a 30 degree target arc.
