Al-Qaida blasts Iran for working with US in tape

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri has accused Iran of working with U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq in his latest video message.

Excerpts of message have appeared on Arab news channel Al-Jazeera and it is timed to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Al-Zawahri accuses Iran of "cooperating with the Americans in occupying Iraq and Afghanistan" and slams Tehran for recognizing the governments there, in the excerpts shown Monday.

Al-Zawahri also criticized the Shiites for not calling for a jihad in Iraq and taking up arms against the "Crusader occupier" there.
