SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) -- The Chilean government says the cost of living rose by 7.6 percent during the January-September period this year, compared with 7.3 percent during the same period in 2007.
The National Statistics Institute said Friday that the cost of living rose by 1.1 percent in September alone, led by jumps in transportation and housing.
The accumulated cost of living increase for the last 12 months grew to 9.2 percent in September.
The Central Bank predicts an 8.3 percent inflation rate for this year, up from 7.8 percent in 2007.
