MIAMI (AP) -- An Argentine woman who has become a Latin American pinup model is testifying in Miami federal court about her role in discovering a suitcase stuffed with Venezuelan cash.
Maria del Lujan Telpuk was working as a police officer at a Buenos Aires airport when she uncovered a suitcase containing nearly $800,000 in August 2007. The discovery triggered a political scandal and U.S. criminal charges against four South American men.
The 27-year-old Telpuk is testifying Friday in the case of Franklin Duran, a Venezuelan on trial for allegedly acting as an illegal foreign agent in the U.S. to cover up the scandal. Telpuk has posed for Latin American versions of Playboy magazine and made TV appearances since gaining fame.
