Georgian defense, foreign ministers fired

TBILISI, Georgia (AP) -- Georgia's prime minister has announced the dismissal of the defense minister and foreign affairs minister.

Prime Minister Grigol Mgaloblishvili says the government needs an overhaul because of what he called the "new realities." The government of President Mikhail Saakashvili has come under growing pressure since its disastrous war with Russia in August.

The prime minister announced the dismissals of Defense Minister David Kezerashvili, Foreign Minister Eka Tkeshelashvili and the ministers of education and culture on Friday.
