Police identify driver hurt in I-40 wreck near Asheville Hwy.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Police Dept. identified the driver injured in a single-car wreck on I-40 Thursday night as Jamie Cheyenne Swaggerty.

Officers were called to the scene of the wreck, near Asheville Hwy., around 7:20 p.m., a KPD spokesperson said. While en route, they learned Swggerty's car was on fire and she was trapped inside.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and, after she was freed, Swaggerty was rushed to UT Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

KPD added that charges are pending following the conclusion of the investigation.
