Saudi king grants women seats on advisory council

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — The Saudi king has granted women seats on the country's top advisory council for the first time.

Saudi Arabia's official news agency said Friday that King Abdullah issued a royal decree granting women seats on the 150-member Shura Council.

The council has the authority to review laws but can't propose or veto legislation.
