UK police arrest 6 in phone hacking investigation

LONDON (AP) -- British police says it has arrested six people as part of the investigation into phone hacking in the British media.

The Metropolitan police said five men and one women were arrested early Tuesday morning in various locations in and around London. It said their premises were being searched.

The people were arrested by police working on an ongoing probe into phone hacking by journalists and private investigators.

The investigation stems from phone hacking by British tabloids, notably the News of the World.
