Vince Dooley speaks at Hall of Fame banquet

KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- Some of Knoxville's biggest sports figures were inducted into the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame Thursday at the Knoxville Convention Center.

One of Georgia's biggest names was the first to congratulate them.

Longtime Georgia football coach Vince Dooley was the keynote speaker at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Dooley is the father of new Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley.

The elder Dooley said he was honored to speak to the inductees. He said he was proud of his son's accomplishments in the coaching profession, but didn't give Derek any advice because the younger Dooley already knows what it takes to win in the SEC.

The inductees were:
Carolyn Peck
John Cooper
Bill Higdon
Austin Denney
Carmen Foster
Jerilynn Harper Carroll
Jim Kerr
Dirk Pohlmann
Chuck Ramsey
Jackie Pope
