KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP/WVLT) -- After Sunday's practice, Derek Dooley said defensive tackle Marlon Walls will miss substantial time, saying "he will be out for a while."
Dooley said Walls suffered the same type of injury that Ben Martin did.
Walls injured his Achilles' tendon during Saturday's practice. It's the second such injury for a Volunteers defensive lineman in the first week of fall camp.
With the loss of Walls, Dooley said that Victor Thomas will move from offensive line to defensive tackle to help shore up the depth at the position. Thomas arrived at Tennessee as a defensive lineman, but was moved to the offensive side of things in the spring.
Walls, an Olive Branch, Miss., native, returned to the Vols on Wednesday after a monthlong suspension for his role in a July 9 bar brawl that left two men injured. He played in seven games in 2009 and has been expected to start at tackle, a position where the Vols have very little depth.
Senior defensive end Ben Martin also sustained an Achilles' tendon injury on Thursday and is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2010 season.
