KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee senior Victor Thomas has moved from center to defensive tackle to help add depth to the Volunteers' defensive line.
Both senior defensive end Ben Martin and sophomore defensive tackle Marlon Walls injured their Achilles' tendons during the Vols' first week of fall camp and are expected to miss significant playing time. Both were expected to start.
Tennessee is fairly deep at the defensive end position but had just one experienced tackle left in sophomore Montori Hughes before Walls' injury.
Thomas, a 6-foot-3, 293-pound Olive Branch, Miss., native, has spent the past three seasons on the defensive line but switched to center in spring to help shore up depth at that position.
