KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee coach Derek Dooley says he's seeing improvement from his Volunteers two weeks into fall camp.
Dooley is doing what he can to encourage progress by pushing his players to work on improving both discipline and effort, their playing technique and knowledge of the team's schemes during each practice.
Dooley said Sunday at Tennessee's annual media picture day that's his approach to keep practices from feeling dull or repetitive. It also means the players aren't just working hard -- they're working efficiently as well.
The Vols have completed 11 practices with 10 more to go before they begin preparing for the Sept. 4 season opener against Tennessee Martin.
