UT WR Gerald Jones returns to practice

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee starting wide receiver Gerald Jones is practicing once again with his teammates.

Jones practiced for the first time Tuesday after a month off to recover from surgery on his left hand to repair a bone that was broken during Tennessee's season opening win over Tennessee-Martin. He wore a non-contact jersey during practice and is expected to play at 12th-ranked LSU on Saturday.

The senior from Oklahoma City is wearing a plastic splint to protect his hand while catching balls. He says his only worry is catching a low pass around his hips.

Jones says he spent an extra two hours watching film during Tennessee's day off on Monday because he's so excited to return to the field.

Tailback Tauren Poole, linebacker Herman Lathers and cornerback Art Evans also returned to practice after missing Tennessee's overtime win over UAB on Saturday.
