KNOXVILLE (UTSports.com) -- With all network designations now complete, the Tennessee basketball team is set to appear on television 30 times during the upcoming regular season.
In fact, the 2010-11 campaign marks the third straight year in which all but one of the Vols’ regular-season games will air on national or regional television.
Recent additions to the Volunteers’ TV schedule include three contests set to air on SportSouth and single games to air on CBS College Sports, CSS and Fox Sports South.
SportSouth will televise UT’s regular-season opener against Chattanooga on Nov. 12 (9 p.m. ET) as well as home games against Southern California on Dec. 21 (7 p.m. ET) and Belmont on Dec. 23 (7:30 p.m. ET).
Fox Sports South will carry the Vols’ home game against Middle Tennessee on Nov. 30 (7:30 p.m. ET), while CSS will show the UT Martin game on Dec. 29 (7 p.m. ET).
When the Vols hit the road to face Charlotte Dec. 17 at Time Warner Arena—home of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats—the clash will tip at 8 p.m. ET on CBS College Sports.
Tennessee appears in the preseason top-25 rankings in four prominent publications.
Though it doesn’t hit newsstands until early October, Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook ranks the Volunteers No. 14 in the country. This marks the fourth straight year Tennessee has made Blue Ribbon’s national top 25 and the third consecutive season in which the Big Orange have garnered a spot in the top 15.
Lindy’s Sports College Basketball Preview places UT No. 12 in its preseason rankings, while also listing freshman Tobias among the nation’s top-25 power forwards.
The Vols landed at No. 22 in the Sporting News College Basketball Preview and No. 25 in Athlon Sports College Basketball Preview.
Athlon, Sporting News and Lindy’s all feature junior guard Scotty Hopson on one of their respective regional covers.
