SEC Fines Kentucky For Post-Game Celebration

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- The Southeastern Conference has fined Kentucky $50,000 for failing to prevent fans from rushing the field after the Wildcats' triple-overtime victory over top-ranked LSU.

It's the third violation for Kentucky dating back to last year.

The university was fined $5,000 for the celebration after a win last season against Georgia and $25,000 earlier this year after a victory over Louisville.

Kentucky defeated LSU 43-37 Saturday -- its first victory over a top-ranked team since 1964.

What a bunch of nonsense to not allow their fans to celebrate by running on the field. Pretty soon it will be like Nascar with the COT car and they will be running them from the press booth with joysticks! Give me a break.

In looking back at other teams whose fans have stormed their field... those teams have become sudden powerhouses in the game of Football. I think that the SEC Rule on storming the field is stupid... but "smart". I believe that with the show of support from the fans "on the field" that the players feel better about themselves and their team! Knocking off #9 Louisville earlier this season and the storming that came afterwards I believe contributed to the victory over LSU. I think that the storming of the Field and the Tearing down of the Goalposts will greatly influence the next few games in the season. The Kentucky Athletic Department I believe would be more than GLAD to pay the fines given by the SEC. The SEC rule is stupid in the fact that it demolishes team morale and fan morale when you have the SEC going down your throat about punishment. However, I think that it is "smart" in regards to safety. I believe that if UT were able to celebrate like it used to, we could be on top again

It really sucks when a fan can't celabrate a little when a low ranked team beats a top ranked team. what is the sport comeing too. I am not even a Ky. fan but that much fine is just out of the question.

What would you expect from fans whose team was ranked 17th and knocked off the #1 seat after not one, but three overtimes? Give me a break. Noone can be happy anymore.
