(WVLT) -- Tennessee freshman center Brian Williams has been named the SEC's Freshman of the Week. And why not? The Vol newcomer was huge against Western Kentucky Saturday night.
The 6'10" Williams recorded his first career double-double with career-highs of 16 points and 14 rebounds in Tennessee's 88-82 win over Western Kentucky.
Seven of his 14 rebounds were at the offensive end and his 14 rebounds were the most by a Vol since Vincent Yarbrough had 15 during the 2000-01 season.
Williams leads Tennessee with 5.7 rebounds per game.
The 12th ranked Vols return to action Wednesday night. Tennessee is set to host UNC-Asheville for a 7:30 p.m. tip off. The game will be televised on SportsSouth.
