(WVLT) -- The search continues for a new Tennessee offensive coordinator, and according to one report, the Vols met Thursday with San Francisco 49er quarterbacks coach Frank Cignetti--that according to volquest.com.
This season was Cignetti's first season in San Francisco. During the 2006 season, he was North Carolina's offensive coordinator. Before joining the Tar Heels for one season, he was Fresno State's OC from 2002-2005. During his time with the Bulldogs, he helped the offense average 52.8 points over the final six games in 2004 and become just the sixth team in NCAA history to score 50 or more points in four consecutive contests.
In both 2004 and 2005, Fresno State’s offense finished among the nation’s top ten in scoring and third down conversions.
With David Cutcliffe now the head coach at Duke, Phillip Fulmer has said that he hopes to have a staff in place by the weekend of January 11th--which is a big recruiting weekend for the Vols.
