LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY (WVLT) -- WVLT's sister station WKYT in Lexington, Kentucky is reporting that University of Kentucky freshman Patrick Patterson will miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left ankle.
The Kentucky Wildcats happen to be the next opponent for Bruce Pearl and the Vols, and are second in the SEC East standings, one game behind UT with a conference record of 10-3.
WKYT reports that Patterson is the only freshman ranked among the SEC’s top 10 scorers (16.4 points per game) and rebounders (7.7 rebounds per game).
An x-ray on Friday morning confirmed the ankle injury.
Patterson is wearing a cast on his left foot and will be out approximately eight weeks.
UT faces Kentucky at Thompson-Boling Arena on Sunday at noon.
The game will be televised on WVLT Volunteer TV.
Flagging does not guarantee removal.
