Knoxville (WVLT) - A former Vol is facing criminal charges.

Twenty-two-year-old Bret Smith was arrested after turning himself in Wednesday on charges of evading arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.

Knox County Sheriff's deputies say Smith crashed his car on Bakertown Road early Sunday morning.

The deputy says when he arrived on scene, Smith fled.

Smith, is out of jail after a bonding company posted a $1,000 bond.

Smith, a receiver last year for the Vols, was not drafted by any NFL team last week.
