The Vols enter the tournament as the sixth seed with an overall record of 105-40-3 (.719), and an SEC record of 26-15 (.634). The 54-hole tournament will run Thursday through Saturday with each morning beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern time.
The Tennessee lineup will feature Philip Pettitt, Charlie Ford, Chris Paisley, Tino Weiss and Jonathan Mount.
Junior Pettitt was recently named first-team All-SEC, his first selection. Pettitt has competed in ten tournaments for the Vols, and leads the team with a scoring average of 72.60. He has four top-10 finishes for the year and leads the team with 14 rounds of par or better.
Ford has competed in every tournament for the Vols and currently stands second on the team with a scoring average of 72.97. He garnered All-SEC honors as he was voted to the second team. He has three top-10 finishes, the most recent at the SEC Championships finishing eighth with a 54-hole total of 217.
Paisley finished runner-up at the 2007 SEC Champions tied with teammate Tino Weiss. He fired a 76-70-69--222 to earn his second top-10 finish of the season and best finish as a Volunteer.
Weiss has competed in nine tournaments for UT and has a scoring average of 73.63. He recently recorded his highest finish as a Vol at the SEC Championships, finishing tied for second with a 74-70-71-215.
Mount has competed in five tournaments for the Vols and has a scoring average of 72.64.
At last year's NCAA East Regional, held at the Lake Nona Golf Club May 18-20 in Orlando, Fla., the Volunteers carded a 310-293-298--901 on their way to an 18th-place finish. Junior Charlie Ford combined a final round 70 with a 76-75 to finish with a 221 and tied for 26th. UT senior Tino Weiss finished tied for 52nd with an 87-71-75--224.
The top 10 teams from each of the three regionals, plus the top two individuals whose team is not among the top 10, qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be held May 30-June 2 at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va.
