No. 1 Tennessee Will Face Hawaii in Best-of-Three Series Beginning Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPNU
The top-ranked and fifth-seeded Tennessee Lady Vol softball team (57-5) will serve as host of the NCAA Super Regionals for the second consecutive season as Hawaii (49-11) ventures to Tyson Park for a best-of-three series with a berth in the annual Women's College World Series on the line. UT and the Rainbow Wahine will play the opener on Friday, May 25, at 8 p.m. ET, with the final two contests (if necessary) scheduled for Saturday, May 26, at 4 & 6:30 p.m. ET. All three match-ups will be broadcast live via ESPNU.
This will mark Tennessee's third consecutive trip to the NCAA Super Regionals after traveling to Palo Alto, Calif., to sweep two games from Stanford in 2005 and taking two out of three contests while hosting Michigan in 2006. The Big Orange possess a 4-1 record in the Super Regional round and a 21-9 overall slate in NCAA Tournament action after rolling through the Knoxville Regional this past weekend with victories over Furman (8-0, six inn.), North Carolina (2-0) and Winthrop (7-0).
