Vol Football Player Found Not Guilty

A University Of Tennessee football player was found not guilty in court Friday.

Cornerback Marsalous Johnson was charged with Assault after an off-duty Sheriff's Deputy accused him of waving a gun at him while driving on the interstate last summer.

A jury found Johnson not guilty in Putnam County Circuit Court in Cookeville.

Johnson was originally charged with Aggravated Assault, but the charge was lowered in November and sent to a Grand Jury.

When Officers pulled over Johnson's vehicle, they found a Toy Uzi Submachine Gun under the passenger seat.

Johnson is a rising Sophomore from Smyrna and is projected to be a starter this season.
He was suspended for the first four games of last season as punishment for the arrest.
