Lincoln Financial Sports showcases some of the most popular and unforgettable play-by-play announcers of
today during episode two of “Aaron’s Football Saturdays in the South,” including the University of Tennessee’s John Ward.
Having served as the “Voice of the Vols” for over three decades, John Ward has become a living legend in the state of Tennessee. His
precise and flawless descriptions of Vol football and basketball games have led him to win the Tennessee sportscaster of the year award
twenty-eight times, and he was named Best College Announcer in the country in 1976.
A member of both the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame
and the Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame, Ward provided a strong link between UT and Big Orange fans.
Believe it or not, Ward saw play-by-play announcing as only a hobby. He retired the year the Vols won the 1998 football national
championship, and he now resides with his wife Barbara in Knoxville where he enjoys maintaining his extensive four-acre garden.
Tim Brando returns as series host and takes viewers behind-the-scenes with the legends, athletes, coaches, and traditions that make fall
Saturdays so special. For an exclusive peek into the life of John Ward, tune into "Aaron's Football Saturdays in the South", LINCOLN
FINANCIAL SPORTS® summer mini-series that leads into the 2007 SEC football season.
