KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT/AP) -- #19 Tennessee beat the second-ranked Kentucky Wildcats 74-65 Saturday afternoon in Thompson-Boling Arena.
J.P. Prince had 20 points and Scotty Hopson added 15 as the Vols snapped Kentucky's eight-game winning streak.
It was the second major upset of a highly rated program this year for the Volunteers (21-7, 9-5 Southeastern Conference), who also knocked off top-ranked Kansas last month.
The Wildcats (27-2, 12-2) had trailed by 16 midway through the first half but managed to tie the game at 65 before Prince and Hopson scored the final nine points to clinch the victory.
Kentucky's freshman stars had solid games once again, with John Wall getting 19 points and DeMarcus Cousins added 15 and a game-high 14 rebounds.
However, the Wildcats made just two of 22 3-point attempts and shot a season-low 35 percent overall.
