Tennessee basketball coach Bruce Pearl announced today that Aaron Green will join his staff as a graduate manager. A three-time Academic All-SEC selection, Green will be working toward his masters in sport management.
“We are delighted to add Aaron Green to our coaching staff,” Pearl said. “He brings with him a wealth of playing and coaching experience. But, more importantly, he has been a Tennessee Vol his entire life. Since I have been here he has wanted to join our staff and now he will have that opportunity.”
The Sweetwater native played for the Vols from 1995-99. He finished his career ranking sixth on UT’s career 3-point field goal list with 99 made and was 11th in school history with 115 career steals. Green helped lead the Vols to three postseason appearances (one NIT and two NCAA Tournaments).
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with Coach Pearl, who is one of the best coaches in college basketball,” Green said. “I’m very grateful and honored to return to the University of Tennessee where I spent four memorable years. I’ve been a Vol my entire life. It is obviously very difficult to leave the Cleveland High School basketball program. I have spent seven wonderful years there and I am very proud of all the young men I have coached.”
The 2005 Chattanooga Times Free Press Coach of the Year, Green had a 155-72 career record with the Blue Raiders and won 20 or more games six times.
