KNOXVILLE (AP) -- Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer was rather reticent following a scrimmage tonight riddled with several injuries and numerous dropped passes.
He said quarterback Erik Ainge is in complete command of throwing the ball, but the tight ends dropped way too many passes.
Sophomore Austin Rodgers was the most sure-handed receiver, pulling in four balls for 56 yards.
Number 15 Tennessee has one more scrimmage planned before opening at Number 12 California on September 1st.
Punter Britton Colquitt sat out after pulling a muscle on the opening kick off. Senior defensive end Xavier Mitchell was pulled from action and Fulmer revealed he had suffered a minor concussion.
But freshman tailbacks Lennon Creer and Daryl Vereen continued to show positive progression.
And cornerback Eric Berry showed his talent in covering large portions of the field, knocking down passes, taking down a fair number of offensive players and reeling in an interception.
