Huntsville, AL. –Tennessee built a 5-1 lead but couldn’t hold on in the series deciding game five Monday Night in Huntsville and lose 8-7.
Huntsville with ahead 1-0 in the second Chris Robinson grounded out which scored Tyler Colvin who had doubled and was at third. Gary Cates the next batter gave Tennessee the lead with a line drive single score Issmael Salas who had also doubled and Tennessee lead 2-1.
Casey McGehee entered the plate in the third with two on and none out and crushed a three-run homerun over the centerfield wall to extend the Smokies advantage to 5-1.
Hernan Iribarren turned the tide in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer to get the Stars back to within two runs.
Huntsville then scored two more in the fourth, fifth innings and one in the seventh went ahead 8-5.
Robinson Chirinos in the eighth inning singled in Salas cutting the lead to two.
Then in the ninth Tennessee battled to score one and had the bases loaded when the game ended 8-7. Eric Patterson walked and moved to third on a one out Casey McGehee single. Tyler Colvin then doubled deep in the right centerfield gap moving McGehee to third but after Salas drew the intentional walk the rallied stalled.
