KNOXVILLE (UTSports.com) -- The University of Tennessee Athletics Department announced today that more than 14,700 basketball season tickets have been sold for the upcoming 2007-08 season, including almost 1,000 since Monday morning.
“Our first exhibition game on Nov. 2 is right around the corner, and the enthusiasm we’re seeing from the fans already is incredible,” said head coach Bruce Pearl. “We made significant strides last season, but we’ve got more great things in store this year.”
This year’s ticket sales have already topped the record number set in 1987, the year Thompson-Boling Arena opened. This year’s sales have surpassed the two decade old record by more than 800 tickets.
“With a renovated Thompson-Boling Arena and a brand new basketball practice facility in Pratt Pavilion, we’re looking into the future with high hopes,” said athletics director Mike Hamilton. “Bruce and his team definitely know how to compete on a national stage, and I believe the record-setting sales is a testament to our fans’ dedication to this program.”
With this year’s renovations Thompson-Boling Arena now seats just over 21,750, however season tickets will be considered sold-out at 17,522.
Tennessee’s $154 season ticket price averages less than $9 per game, reflecting a $6 per game discount over the $15 SEC individual game price. A limited number of Family Plan season tickets ($90 season ticket with a minimum purchase of four) in Sections 312-314 are also available. Individual game tickets will go on sale in mid-October.
Tickets are available for purchase online at utsports.com, via phone at (800) 332-VOLS and at the Thompson-Boling Arena ticket office.
