Court dates set for Vols players arrested in brawl

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Court dates have been scheduled for two Tennessee players arrested after a July 9 bar brawl that left an off-duty police officer seriously injured.

According to Knox County General Sessions Court records, Darren Myles Jr. is scheduled appear Aug. 12 on charges of assault, resisting arrest and evading arrest. Myles was dismissed from the team after his arrest.

Freshman wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers is scheduled to appear on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges on Sept. 14, over a week after the Volunteers play their first game.

The Knoxville police investigation into the brawl is ongoing, and no one has been charged for the assault of officer Robert Capouellez, who suffered a head injury while trying to break up the fight.

    Marshall DB Bembry kicked off team. AP Marshall University defensive back DeQuan Bembry has been kicked off the school's football team, some three months after his arrest outside a West Virginia bar. Coach Doc Holliday announced Bembry's dismissal in a news release Sunday morning. The one-line statement said Holliday was ''very disappointed in DeQuan.'' Bembry and fellow defensive back T.J. Drakeford had been arrested on misdemeanor charges in April as police cleared several Huntington bars because of fights.Bembry had been charged with assault on a police officer and underage consumption, both misdemeanors. Police said he had verbally assaulted an officer. Pitt's Sheard charged with assault, suspended indefinitely. (AP)Pitt defensive end Jabaal Sheard has been suspended indefinitely after being accused of throwing another man through the glass door of an art gallery. Police say Sheard was in a fight early Sunday and had to be pepper sprayed after he threw the man through the door.

    I guess it will be left to the bar [atron that was beaten up to get an attorney and take the individuals that he said identified as his assaiants. He should consider ejoining the UT athletiics Department, AD Hamiton and Coach Doo Dah as co-conspirators in trying to cover up and protect their infantile players. Probably looking at a mid-six figure settlement. Call a lawyewr today.
