HALLS (WVLT) - The red on Halls' jerseys closely matched the tint on Halls coach Kevin Julian's face as the Red Devils emerged from the halftime locker room.
His Halls team faced a 28-9 halftime deficit after allowing two West kickoff returns for touchdowns and two Jake Ryan TD passes.
But soon the Red Devils would make the Rebels green with envy after a 27-point onslaught to take the lead in the third quarter.
Wesley Kitts started the Halls surge two plays into the second half, storming 71 yards deep into West territory, a play which led to a short touchdown run to make the score 28-16. After the Red Devils recovered a Jake Ryan fumble on the first play of the ensuing drive, quarterback Tyler Turner took a QB sneak across the goal line to get Halls within 28-23.
But the Red Devils weren't done. After a 13-yard touchdown pass gave Halls the lead, defensive lineman Brent Hughes knocked the ball loose from Ryan, and linebacker Aaron Blair plucked the ball off the turf and returned it 23 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.
The game went into double overtime, where a 10-yard Wesley Kitts run clinched the 52-49 victory.
