KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Austin Dillon made a visit to the Vols on Thursday morning. The rookie was given a tour of the practice facility and Neyland Stadium. Dillon also was put through quarterback drills, which he did quite well at.
His performance earned him praise from Butch Jones. The UT head coach even put Dillon at the top of the depth chart. "Well, we're ready to name a starting quarterback today. So I'm going to take this opportunity right now to name that starting quarterback. And it will be Austin Dillon. After his performance today," says Jones.
Dillon, who touted his Little League World Series skills, was also pleased with his play. "I actually did hit the first target and I think always your first lap on the race track is sometimes fastest, I think my first throw was my best. I'll never forget the opportunity, the training over there at Anderson, and then walking in Neyland today."
Dillon currently is fighting for a final playoff spot in the Chase for the Cup.
