KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Bearden's Lane Thomas won't soon forget his game Tuesday night against Catholic.
Thomas hit two grand slams...in the same inning.
The Bulldog bats were unstoppable in the third inning. On the strength of four home runs, Bearden tallied 17 runs in the third.
Thomas had three at bats in the inning. After getting hit by a pitch in his first appearance, he hit back-to-back grand slams.
"I didn't know it was gone," Thomas said after the game referring to the second grand slam. "I was sprinting around first like I didn't know it was gone. It definitely shocked me too."
Bearden won the game 18-1.
Local 8 Sports hasn't been able to find an official number on how many times a prep baseball player has hit two grand slams in the same inning.
However, MaxPreps had a story in March of 2011 reporting that the time at the number was 21.
