KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - It was a game filled with lots of talent, and the play on the field reflected that as CAK won a battle of big plays to beat Grace Christian 27-19.
The Warriors Charlie High continued to put up big numbers, completing 22 of 29 passes for 300 yards and 2 TDs. He also ran for over 60 yards in CAK's win. But High was not the game MVP. That belonged to teammate Corey Rathbone who found the endzone 3 times in the contest.
The game stayed close throughout. After Grace Christian fumbled on the opening play of the game, CAK scored 3 plays later to take a 7-0 lead. Grace responded with a touchdown of their own to tie it at 7-7. CAK would score before the half on a High to Rathbone 26 yard TD pass to put the Warriors up 14-7 at the break.
The Warriors would push the lead out to 27-13 as the third quarter came to an end on a Rathbone 1 yard TD run. Will McKamey would make it a one possession game with under 6 minutes to play on a 2-yard TD run, cutting the lead to 27-19.
But a Cody Bailey interception would ice the game for CAK with just over a minute to play.
