CAK beats Catholic 6-5 to win state championship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Christian Academy of Knoxville beat Catholic Friday afternoon 6-5 to win the Class AA state baseball championship.

It's the Warriors first baseball state title.

It was the two schools seventh meeting this season. Catholic held a 4-2 advantage heading into Friday's showdown, but the Warriors won the game that mattered most.

CAK's Parker Cochran delivered a walk-off RBI sending the Warriors to the history win.

For local coaching legend Tommy Pharr, Friday's win was his first state title since taking over at CAK in 2009. Pharr was previously at Farragut, where he coached the Admirals to five state championships.
