KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- It's a new era for the Bearden football program.
The Bulldogs are now under the direction of Morgan Shinlever.
Shinlever was an assistant last year at Bearden, but was promoted to head coach when Brad Taylor stepped down.
"So far it's gone very well," Shinlever said when asked about the transition.
"We've got a lot of young men who are very excited about about the transition of trying to build a new brand of Bearden football."
Shinlever said the not only have the players bought in to his brand, but the community has as well.
Look for Bearden's defense to carry the team early. The Bulldogs return 7 starters on defense, but just three on offense.
Bearden opens up the season August 22 at home against Sevier County.
